This study addresses the energy modeling and sustainability assessment of a solar-powered marine aquaculture farm, using the experimental Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) facility of the National Center for Research and Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CNRDPA) as a case study. A hybrid photovoltaic system was sized and optimized using HOMER Pro (Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources) software and real site data. Simulation results show that the optimized configuration (211 kW PV, 1,612 batteries) achieves an 84.6% renewable fraction, a Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) of 4.40 DA/kWh (22.3% below grid tariff), a 9.1-year payback period, and an 84.7% emissions reduction. An Arduino-based monitoring system was also developed. Solar integration in intensive aquaculture proves a viable lever for reducing costs, fossil fuel dependence, and environmental impact in Algeria.
