Abstract
The study of sheet pile wall behavior in port structures involves a thorough analysis of the interaction between the soil and the wall. This interaction is influenced by several factors, including soil properties, contact conditions at the soil-wall interface, and applied loads (Lambe & Whitman, 1979). To guarantee the stability of port structures, it is essential to conduct rigorous geotechnical studies, which include modeling of soil-structure interaction (Clayton et al., 2014)
Several methods are available to study soil-structure interaction, ranging from theoretical approaches to numerical modeling. Classical limit equilibrium methods, such as the Blum method, provide a simplified and rapid approach for preliminary design (Blum, 1931; Teng, 1962). More advanced numerical methods, particularly the Finite Element Method (FEM), allow for realistic simulation of non-linear soil behavior and complex boundary conditions. Specialized software such as PLAXIS 2D, GEO5, SPW 2006, and Prosheet are
widely used in practice for the analysis and design of sheet pile walls .
In this work, we have chosen to use a multi-method approach to dimension the sheet pile quay wall at the Marina Bay d'Alger port, focusing on Quay G2 (water depth 3.00 m, Overload 10 kN/m²) as defined in the project documentation. (BTP INFRAESTRUCTURAS 2018)
